Air Coolers Are Better Than Air Conditioners
As temperatures start to rise in India with the onset of summer, people switch to cooling appliances to keep themselves, their homes, and offices cool. Nothing brings more happiness on a hot summer day than sitting in an air-cooled room, however, this cooling comfort comes at a price, especially when you install air conditioners to stay cool. Hot summers and high electricity bills go hand in hand which is no less than a nightmare for most factory and office owners. This is where air coolers come to the rescue as they are far more energy efficient, provide fresh & healthy air, cost-effective and environmentally friendly in comparison to power-hungry air conditioners.
An air conditioner circulates the internal air of the room over and over again, whereas an air cooler pulls fresh air from outside and then cools it down. Also, an air cooler doesn’t make the air overly dry like an air conditioner because of the way it operates, an air cooler offers a better quality of air for our room. Both air coolers and air conditioners essentially do the same thing i.e. to cool down the place it is installed in. The difference lies in how they cool the air.
Air coolers use a fan to blow hot air through water-soaked pads. As air passes through the pad, the water evaporates and cools the air. On the other hand, air conditioners work on gases to cool down the air in that area which is very much harmful compared to the natural cooling system that is “Aircooler”.
There are some features and differences between an air conditioner and an air cooler:
S No. | Features of Air Cooler | Features of Air Conditioners |
---|---|---|
1. | Highly budget friendly | Not budget Friendly |
2. | Only Cools the air | Cools and heats up the air |
3. | Using water-absorbent pads, heat is cooled down from the air | Conditions the air by using harmful gases |
4. | It is portable | It cannot be shifted once installed |
5. | More beneficial in dry areas | Beneficial only in small areas |
There are a number of differences that set apart the air conditioner from the air cooler.
1. Maintenance: Air conditioners need high maintenance each and every year but air coolers provide low maintenance and work absolutely great. For instance, refilling gases acquire a high expense but on the other hand, only the filter needs to be replaced (not even every year) in coolers which are really cheap compared to Airconditioners. Moreover, only water needs to be refilled on a daily basis according to the individual’s requirement but if the gas is leaked then proper refilling expense has to be paid to make it work.
2. Space: There is no installation expense in coolers, you can easily move it from one place to another whenever you wish. But in air conditioners, this is a very difficult task because you need proper spacing and wiring to fix it which is similar in both windows as well as splits. The individual finds himself or herself tension free by its moving facility. Huge industries need a specific space to install air conditioners whereas these air coolers can be easily placed anywhere at any time.
3. Electricity Consumption: The electricity bill is a very big issue for air conditioners as it requires high voltage to work and sometimes if it is set on “Power Mode” then definitely it will acquire double voltage which will bounce up the cost of the bill within few hours of consumption and if we talk about air coolers are a very big advantage as it requires low voltage and consumes about 20% electricity of that of air conditioners.
4. Functioning: An evaporative cooler and an air conditioner have differences in the way they work. Air coolers take in hot water, pass it through wet absorbent pads, and cool the air. You have to fill them up to the capacity of water to be able to use them. On the other hand, air conditioners use a chemical coolant to condition the air and alter its temperature. Unlike an air cooler that simply cools the air to a certain degree, air conditioners make the air conditioner more favorable by providing facilities for customization of the temperature and humidity.
5. Climate: Air Coolers work best in dry climates and are known as humidifiers by converting water into tiny water droplets and circulating all over the area.
6. Effects on the Environment: Air Coolers only involve water to generate cool air which has zero percentage of loss to our environment but if we talk about air conditioners, they are the circulators of compressed gases which has multiple hazardous effects on our environment.
Air conditioners only make our environment more heated up whereas air coolers work as humidifiers and help our nature to get fresh.
